Bathrooms

Renovations Etc. is able to create a bath space where you will begin and end your day with your life’s worries cleansed away. Whether you just want to update your powder room with new fixtures or enlarge and enhance a master suite, we can take care of all of your needs.  If you are on a tighter budget you can choose products for an easy to maintain traditional bathroom, or you can go all out with a wide range of unique choices for sinks, tubs, showers, tile, countertops, fixtures and more!  And best of all, we can create a distinctive, stylish bathroom without draining your bank account.

Take into consideration your lifestyle as you choose the type of products for your bathroom. You can choose tough, durable products to withstand the continued use of your growing children, or you can indulge your senses and create that luxurious retreat you've always dreamed of.  More and more, people are going to their bathrooms to relax and luxuriate after a hard day at home or the office. Homeowners are upgrading their bathrooms by outfitting them with everything from soaking tubs to heated floors, to make themselves comfortable. But peace and quiet aren't the only motivating factors. An upgraded bathroom helps sell a home and can bring a good return on every dollar spent.

One of the first steps in the design of your new bathroom is research!  Look in home magazines, internet, open houses, etc for new ideas. Then contact Renovations Etc. for your free initial consultation.  Listed below are some bathroom design trends that we have seen and you my consider for your project.

1)  Privatization of the toilet, by giving the master bath's toilet its own private room, or at least a privacy wall is becoming very common.  Relocating the toilet to where it makes more sense, and doesn't render the whole bathroom useless.  With PVC pipes a toilet can be moved fairly easily, usually for a few hundred dollars.

2)  Additional storage is a huge request in bathroom remodeling.  People are asking for smaller more shallow drawers, sometimes with dividers, over the large deep drawers most factory supplied vanities have to offer. Vertical storage for towels etc. is really catching on, and a great space saver.  We do a lot of towers, where you have drawers that start at countertop height and go up, it puts all of your common items where they are easy to get to.

3)  Taller height vanities are becoming more common in master baths.  Customers are asking for 34 or 36 inch high counters instead of the traditional 30 inch tops of the past. Keep in mind though, the shorter height is great for kid's baths.

4)  Homeowners are also asking for his-and-hers sinks and vanities, even in small bathrooms.  Two vanities allow for each person to have his or her own space and storage.

5)  Porcelain tile with the look of stone, or even natural stone is very popular.  It may be best to keep your tile colors more neutral if you plan on moving in the near future. You can get your colors by painting or by adding accessories.

6)  Adding radiant electric heating to tile floors is a good concept.  Most bathrooms can be done for under a thousand dollars. It's a comfort thing, nothing is worse than getting out of a hot shower stepping on a cold tile floor.  Several companies sell a heated mesh that is placed under the tiles when they're set, and then connected to a thermostat and timer on the wall.

Bathroom fixtures, faucets, and lighting are constantly changing.  Do your research, but I would recommend  energy and water conservation features if possible.  We always try to stay on top of new ideas and trends, so if you have questions please contact us.  For photos of some of our bathrooms please CLICK HERE and scroll down to bathrooms.  Thank you, and happy remodeling.
