News LetterSpring is almost Here! Following are a few tips on getting ready for warm weather.
1) Change your furnace filter. Have a professional air conditioning contractor check your air conditioner and condensing unit, now is the time to clean coils, oil motors, and change belts if applicable. 2) Check your roof for damages from winter. Inspect your roof from the ground if possible, signs include missing, curling, cupping, broken or cracked shingles. Pooling or ponds of water that fail to drain from flat roofs may indicate low areas, or structural damage below. If you find many damaged shingles you may think about putting a new roof in your budget. Don't let cracked or damaged shingle go unattended, they lead to other hidden problems. 3) Check you sidewalk and driveway for cracks, pitting, and uneven surfaces. Cracks should be filled, and uneven slabs should be leveled to prevent falls. Winter salt is hard on concrete. You should pressure wash and seal your driveway. 4) Check all the fascia and trim for deterioration. Damage to these areas can cause internal water damage and rot. 5) Check for loose or leaky gutters. Improper drainage can lead to water in the basement or crawl space. Make sure downspouts drain away from the foundation and are clear and free of debris. 6) Check outside hose faucets for freeze damage. Turn the water on and place your thumb or finger over the spout. If you can easily stop the flow of water, it is likely the pipe inside the home is damaged. 7) Time to prepare your lawn for spring, apply fertilizers and crab grass prevention.
